چکیده

The Airborne Communications Node (ACN) platform supports many communications services, including IP-based data services. Mobility management is needed to ensure that packet delivery operates properly in the presence of mobility, and that smooth handoffs occur between points of attachment to the network. In this paper, IP mobility management mechanisms are explained and a network architecture to support IP mobility management in the ACN platform is introduced. We show how the various network elements involved could be used in the ACN platform, and discuss the design issues and choices.

An Overview of Macro-Mobility Management in Next Generation All-IP Based Wireless Network Infrastructures

Next generation wireless systems are most likely to have an IP based core network. Mobile IP is a proposed standard of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) designed to assist different mobile users. Mobile IP provides an elegant solution for node mobility when the mobile node infrequently moves. However, it implies a relatively large overhead and delay, due to indirect communications. In ...

Integrated Mobility Management Methods for Mobile IP and SIP in IP based Wireless Data Networks

With developments in voice over IP (VoIP), IP-based wireless data networks and their application services have received increased attention. While multimedia applications of mobile nodes are served by Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as a signaling protocol, the mobility of mobile nodes may be supported via Mobile IP protocol. For a mobile node that uses both Mobile IP and SIP, there is a seve...

VIP-WAVE: On the Feasibility of IP Communications in 802.11p Vehicular Networks

Vehicular communications networks, such as 802.11p/WAVE, are becoming a fundamental platform for providing real-time access to safety and entertainment information. In particular, infotainment applications —and consequently IPbased communications— are key to leverage market penetration and deployment costs of the 802.11p/WAVE network. However, the operation and performance of IP in 802.11p/WAVE...
